With sqlDESKTOP put in the same binder side by side documents related to the same topic regardless of their physical storage location or data format. You can arrange by project, by department or whatever makes sense to you. sqlDESKTOP doesn't tell you how to organize, it lets you do things your own way. Documents are easy to find because you don't have to remember the exact name of the document or where you put it. Visually locate what you are looking for in a familiar office environment and click on it.

sqlDESKTOP stores all your documents (Word, Excel files etc..) in a database and lets you :

Servers are safer because server closets are physically secure, access to database are controlled and professionals regularly backup servers. With sqlDESKTOP there are no permanent files stored on your desktop. Recovery from a hard drive failure or other severe disaster is then easy, just ask a reseller to ship another desktop.

Back up feature is also available for the single user version (not connected to server)

A click and run database server is also provided for small organizations without IT professional. This database server is very easy to use and stores data in a Derby - Cloudscape database. Small organizations can now use the network version to share documents for collaborative work.

Risk free migration path from WINDOWS to LINUX

sqlDESKTOP runs on Windows and Linux. You can connect Windows and Linux desktops to the same server. Users can log on from Windows and Linux desktops to retrieve or share data. Windows users can log on from a Linux desktop to try this OS with their own actual data before considering a definitive migration. And it’s easy to switch back: they just have to log on from a Windows desktop.
