Open a shell screen and cd to this directory, then enter: rpm -ivh sqlDESKTOP-3.60-1.i586.rpm If the download doesn't start click on " Télécharger ce fichier " as shown in the following screen capture:
(Please note that you have to deploy sqldesktop into the directory /opt/sqldesktop - write permission into /opt is required) If you can't install rpm package on your system, install the portable version (see below)
sqlDESKTOP requires libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2 . If libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2 is missing on your system, install this library first (see below). How to launch sqlDESKTOP on Linux system open a shell console cd /opt/sqldesktop and enter the following command: ./sqlDESKTOP
You can also use the launch icon added to desktop windows and menu.
The JVM bundled with sqlDESKTOP requires libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2 . If you don't have this librairy, please create in /usr/lib a symlink to a compatible library installed in your system: ln -s <your compatible library> libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2 If you don't have a compatible library, click here to download libstdc++-2-libc6.1-1-2.9.0.so into /usr/lib and enter the following commands: ln -s libstdc++-2-libc6.1-1-2.9.0.so libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2

Browse to http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp and install the Java runtime ( Java jre ) corresponding to your system click here to download install.jar onto a tempory directory. Open a shell screen and cd to this directory, then enter: java -jar install.jar

You don't need sqlDESKTOPserver for the single user version (free). For the multi user network version, install sqlDESKTOPserver on the server and sqlDESKTOP on each user desktop. For your convenience, JAVA, DERBY - CLOUDSCAPE database and sqlDESKTOPserver are bundled into the same distribution file. The JAVA VM bundled with the distribution file will be used exclusively by sqlDESKTOPserver and will not interfere with any other JAVA VM of your system.
